Yes, I used screen grabs for reference. Not terribly original I know, but I was trying to get a feel for the art style through mimicking it.

I've never seen the movie, I'm sad to say.

But the upper left pic...I like ze dragon-esque animal :D And the girl in the lower right is rather cute as well.
